Oklahoma City, OK (PRWEB) July 17, 2012

The Oklahoma car accident lawyers at the law firm of Atkins & Markoff, a law firm that provides legal representation to those who have been wrongfully injured in Oklahoma traffic accidents, hereby alerts the public of a recent Oklahoma car crash that left nine people injured after the vehicle involved rolled over. Three of the injured people were children, and the attorneys at the firm ask the driving public to exercise extreme caution when driving while drowsy.

According to an article that appeared on July 14, 2012 on Oklahomas News 9 Web site, this single-vehicle Oklahoma auto accident occurred at 11 p.m. on Friday night, July 13. An unidentified woman was driving his vehicle on the Indian Nation Turnpike in Pushmataha County. As she neared mile marker 23, the driver allegedly fell asleep.

As a result, the vehicle moved off of the road and then veered back onto it in a leftward direction and onto the median. At that point, police believe that the driver woke up and over-corrected, causing the vehicle to move sharply back to the right and roll over. The vehicle rolled over completely and wound up back on its wheels. Nine people were injured in this crash including three children.

Overall, rollover accidents in Oklahoma are quite prevalent. According to state-kept statistics, nearly 4,000 rollover accidents occur every year in the state, and these crashes lead to at least 2,500 injuries and to more than 200 fatalities. In addition, more than 30 percent of these Oklahoma rollover crashes occur on what is classified as a county road which indicates that they occur in a relatively rural environment.

The Oklahoma car accident lawyers at the law firm of Atkins & Markoff hereby suggest to those driving that if they happen to feel fatigue while they are behind the wheel to exercise extreme caution. These precautionary steps could include asking someone else who is not fatigued to drive, stopping for a rest before continuing or taking some other step that does not put the drivers, their passengers and anyone else who happens to be on the road at the time in a position of unreasonable risk.
